Laura Cartwright
LPC-MHSP
I am a licensed professional counselor with 10 years of experience working with a wide variety of clients. Prior to pursuing private practice, my experience was working in outpatient programs at a local acute care hospital in Chattanooga. I have experience working with adults and families (age 18+) who have issues with substance use disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, grief/loss, codependency, communication, and life transitions.
I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and have a special interest as well as passion to work with other members of this community. I strive to create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space for everyone. I think for counseling to be beneficial an emphasis should be placed on developing a strong therapeutic alliance.
You are the expert on your own life, and I want to work collaboratively with you to find meaningful solutions to whatever issues you may be experiencing. I primarily utilize cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing approaches in my counseling.
